Alair Homes Regina is excited to have secured 7 lots in the Plains of Pilot Butte development in the Town of Pilot Butte, just 7 minutes from Regina. Recently, there has been major commercial and residential expansion in the towns of White City and Pilot Butte, and it is only going to continue. Many commercial and industrial businesses have recently moved from Regina’s east end out to the new commercial developments between Pilot Butte and White City. New hotels, restaurants, gas stations and convenience stores, fast food outlets, and even a new school have come out of this shift in locale!

Heather Ramage is a Licensed Mortgage Associate who started in the mortgage industry in 2011. With her background in the Social Work field and degrees from the University of Saskatoon and the University of Regina, Heather is able to fully engage with clients and focus on their needs and wants during their mortgage process. I was in a bit of a crunch to get some painting and decorating done…needed a good freshening up in a bit of a needy home. I found some good, young, enthusiastic candidates that would be a good fit for the job. I quickly loaded them up and taxi’d them to the site. They actually didn’t know where I was taking them to or what they were hired for, nonetheless they were good sports. In fact, they were pretty excited about the whole thing and painted every corner, from the walls and front door, the light fixtures and switches, the toilet and mirror, to the fridge and stove! Finish it off with a few holes in the walls – it’s always good to have a more open concept feeling. If you need some painting done around town: I’ve got your crew! And they’ll get it done with a smile!

The gumbo soil in Regina retains moisture, expands, and moves around. Today, engineers design foundations with piles under the footing, proper re-bar in the foundation, proper strength of concrete, weeping tile, drain rock, waterproofing, slope of grade, backfill material, and even in some cases piles under the basement slab to avoid problems. This was not the case just a few years ago, many of these steps were not taken and created thousands upon thousands of problem basements today.

For my first blog post, it seems fit that I talk about why I chose to be a part of the Alair Homes team. My wife and I have a passion for homes and real estate, renovations, designing and decorating, home flipping, landscaping, and all aspects of the build process. Our first new home we had built, we were not at all happy with the customer service from our builder. In the sales process we were painted a beautiful picture about how it would be, but after signing the contract it seemed like more of a prison sentence.
