Alair Homes Regina Partners with M & O for Custom Home Builds

Foam2-2

Since Alair broke ground in Regina, we have been partnering many clients with M & O Construction to do basement foundations, along side with garage grade beams & deck piles.

M & O is a family ran company that has been forming and pouring foundations for the last 35 years. In such a competitive market, Quality is what sets them apart!

M & O has came up with their Patented “Form Foam System” . Launched in early spring of 2014. They are making their mark and using the FFS more and more.

The Form Foam system competes with the ICF system. There are a number of advantages to using the FF system. One is the cost savings when comparing to ICF at a 1/3 of the cost and still giving you the same advantage of drywall ready on the inside of your basement walls, as well as Eliminating the exterior basement wall framing.

The main advantages of the Form Foam System (FFS) is the Quality control of the foundation procedure. With this system you visually see the concrete foundation wall on the exterior side of the foundation, for proper inspection once forms are stripped off. Where as with the ICF system you don’t get that option and just hope that you don’t have any deficiencies (concrete honey combing). You still have your conventional 8″ foundation wall plus 4″ Rigid of FFS system on the interior, giving it a R-Value of 17.79. The FFS has Anchor’s set into the concrete that hold the Rigid insulation in place, which are the areas your drywall crew drywall into.

How Does it Work & How is it Constructed?

Basement walls get formed with wood forms, just like any other conventional foundation. The FFS gets installed on the inside of the inside forms. (As shown on Diagram.) Then window bucks and Mud sill is constructed & installed. Once poured and concrete has set, they strip off forms and inspect and make sure foundation walls are free of any deficiencies (i.e. honey combing) and water proofing to follow.
