The World War I armistice occurred on Christmas Eve in 1914. This unplanned day of peace occurred when opposing factions mutually and spontaneously agreed to halt the war and celebrate the holiday. At the All Is Calm, All Is Bright service at Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church and Centre for Faith, you can enjoy holiday songs and remembrance in honor of this historic day of peace and of the soldiers who fought in the war. This event is scheduled for December 8 at 7:30 p.m. Canned food donations are accepted at the door to support those in need throughout the community.
12 Beers of Christmas
Beer enthusiasts will not want to miss out on the chance to celebrate the season at the 12 beers of Christmas party at the Gladstone Hotel. Bring your friends and neighbors, and wear your ugliest Christmas sweater. The party starts at 6 p.m., and it includes samples of 12 local beers, music, karaoke and dancing.
