Acorns

Fill a clear vase with acorns for a natural centerpiece or paint the tops with gold glitter paint and make Christmas ornaments. Simply tie two acorns together with a few inches of twine and string over branches as an artful take on nature’s look.

Branches

Collect branches from the yard and arrange them in the vase for a woodsy feel indoors. Leave them as they are or paint them a color that complements your decor for a more glamorous effect.

Christmas Tree Cuttings

Cuttings from your Christmas tree can be used all over the house as simple winter decor that looks and smells divine. Arrange cuttings on the mantle with a string of lights in place of purchased garland, tie a small piece to a candle with a piece of twine for an elegant centerpiece or even make your own wreath.

Pinecones

Pinecones can be used in countless ways as beautiful home decor, and you can often find them in your own yard or a neighbor’s–with permission of course. Be sure to put them in the oven at 250 degrees for about an hour after collection to kill any bugs that might be living inside.

Make easy tree ornaments by gluing a wooden bead to the top and a piece of ribbon tied in a bow to the front of the bead. Put a piece of twine through the bead and tie the ends to hang it from the tree. Add a little glitter paint to the tips of the pinecone for extra elegance.

Artfully arranged firewood creates a warm cabin effect. Simply place wood near the fireplace in a bucket or basket for instant coziness. Do you have a non-working fireplace? Transform it into a rustic display by filling it completely with wood, ends facing out.
