Chiara Sulyok

General Manager

Born in Chatham, Ontario, Chiara moved to the West Coast of British Columbia to finish off her wide and varied education; focusing on carpentry and horticulture. With a passion for building and gardening, in her spare time you’ll typically find her at home working on her latest projects.  As the parents of two children, Chiara and her husband enjoy passing on skills and lessons they’ve acquired throughout the years, taking every opportunity to travel the world and enrich their lives. Chiara enjoys many aspects of her job, but the thing she finds the most rewarding is working hand-in-hand with her clients; translating ideas from paper into their dream home. There’s a certain kind of magic in knowing you’re making such a big difference in someone’s life.

Chris Gulliver

Partner

Chris has 12 years of construction experience and has led many diverse projects throughout Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. He attended VIU’s Carpentry Foundation Course, then began his career as a self-employed sub-contractor for a custom log home manufacturer, working on projects all over Vancouver Island; across Canada, and into the US.  As he learned about the construction industry’s many varied opportunities and challenges, the more his passion and interest grew.

Chris is adaptable when approaching new projects and personalities and is resourceful in finding solutions. Integrity is paramount to Chris – he has a strong moral compass that guides him both professionally and personally. He believes in community involvement whenever possible and was fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute as Habitat for Humanity’s Build Manager. He and his wife have four children and when not working love to enjoy all that Vancouver Island has to offer. Chris touts the number of hidden gems (hikes, waterfalls, beaches, etc.), and a climate where year-round golf is a possibility!

He has also traveled to Fiji, Norway, and Australia appreciating each for its natural surroundings and use of indigenous materials. Tim’s daily inspiration comes from meeting each of his new clientslistening to their stories and discovering their dreams. His attention to detail produces client dream homes and raving fans.

Ben Sunby

With more than 20 years in the construction industry, Ben’s love of building started when he was only 15-years-oldFrom an early age, Ben has passionately poured his time into learning every detail of the construction process while honing his skills in client communication and education. He is noted for his attention to detail, and ensuring homeowners are engaged at every step of their project.

His innate ability to ensure quality and excellence are integrated into every step of the project—from planning to execution—is what makes Ben a standout player on team Alair.

Through each project he manages, Ben is determined to give homeowners an exceptional construction experience. He is also on a mission to make projects more eco-conscience by increasing resource efficiency in construction, and he loves to be part of building spaces that inspire others.

Ben loves to spend time outdoors in the stunning nature that Vancouver Island is known for, and loves rock climbing and mountaineering.

When he is not helping to beautify and enrich communities through quality design-built construction, he can be found spending time with his daughter, reading, boxing or picking the banjo.
