Living through a home remodel project can be challenging for clients. Even if everything is going well and is on schedule, after about 3 months (small jobs) or 8 months (large jobs) your clients are likely to experience what Is called remodeling fatigue. They’re just sick and tired of the disruption to their home, their normal family schedule, their bank account and their lives.

Ways to avoid this:

-Scheduling: advise the client constantly of the schedule

-Advise the client in the initial (First) meeting that the schedule is a ” moving object” inform the client on every move often

-Create milestone celebrations!!!! This will help the client be at ease with the project(after demo, after framing, after rough in’s just before drywall, after drywall and of course on job completion)

-Try to be ahead of the client in terms of potential problems and always be prepared with solutions

-Remind the client that a “change” can often result in a considerable schedule delay. Tell them as soon as a “change” presents itself. This will keep the client thinking and help avoid fatigue later in the project.

-Follow up with subs daily (before, during and after) the job. This will ensure that you are up to speed with daily activities. This will also allow you to be able to field a call or email from a client at any moment and have an answer available.

-Update the schedule as often as possible (this will help keep you on track, stay focused and be ahead of the game)

-Create real, meaningful deadlines (Set 2 hours aside every week with the client). Discuss the schedule and budget often
