The Clean Look for Today’s Flat Screens

how to make your entertainment room wireless

A big disappointment for me is when I see another company do a custom renovation or custom home and the TV components are there for everyone to see. (TV components being defined as anything the works in conjunction with your TV like a DVD player, blu-ray, receiver etc.) The days of showing how physically large your stereo system is has come and gone. Now days customers are looking for a clean look, TV centered nicely on the wall and the components hidden away in another room or in the cabinets near by. This can be achieved with some simple planning before drywall and the technology of an RF remote.

According to Webopedia: “RF is short for radio frequency, any frequency within the electromagnetic spectrum associated with radio wave propagation. When an RF current is supplied to an antenna, an electromagnetic field is created that then is able to propagate through space.” In terms for the rest of us, this means the remote control will work through cabinetry and walls.

How to Get that Clean and Wireless Look for your Entertainment System

Most components these days supply their signal to the TV through an HDMI cable. With proper planning of the location of the TV and where you would like your components, the system is simple. Install electrical outlets at both locations and cable and internet on the component end. Most devices have wireless capabilities however if you are going to be watching Netflix or another streaming video company, it is best to have a hard internet line. Continue by running HDMI cables from the component area to the TV location. If you have a receiver which controls all of your components, then I recommend running 2 HDMI cables. If you don’t have a receiver then you will have to run an HDMI cable for each component that you have. The key to this project is the RF remote. I recommend the Logitech Harmony 900. This remote is extremely user friendly and downloads all of your component infrared signals to the remote. The remote comes with a rechargeable battery, a cradle for storage and charging and a RF to IR converter. The converter sits in front of your components changing the signal from RF to IR which is a system your components can understand.

So consider the clean look of today when doing your custom home or custom renovation and choose an RF system. The ladies will be happier with the lack of clutter and boys; you might be able to get that bigger TV.
