We all look forward to those days off; those days whether it’s the kids staying with the babysitter or just a long overdue personal day off from work. A day or two to relax and do your own thing! You are the boss! You are in charge! How do you take advantage of your new found freedom for this glorious day? A few simple tips to help you get started.

Take control of your time

Make a schedule for the day. What are some things you want to accomplish with your free time? Do you need to catch up on rest or mow the lawn that has been over grown for weeks now? It’s your time, make it count!

Catch up with family or friends

Interaction is important. Human or animal, it really doesn’t matter. Just spend some quality time going out to dinner with a friend or playing fetch in the park with Fido. It’s important.

Get out!

That’s right, take time to treat yourself to breakfast or anything that you really don’t get to do often because of your daily responsibilities. Some nice fresh air wouldn’t hurt neither, it’s free!

Go to the library or try a new hobby

Even if you hate the idea of sewing, try it! If anything, it’ll be fun to laugh about later.

Don’t spend money

I know it sounds unorthodox, but I’m being serious. You work hard for that money, don’t go shopping and blow it all in a day! You’ll regret that tomorrow. Instead, do things that don’t cost money that are enjoyable: go to the park, library, beaches or even just a casual walk around the block.

Don’t do anything you’ll regret later!

This is your day, make the most of it but not at the expense of regretting it tomorrow. Instead, do something positive or therapeutic that will make you feel good to think about and look forward to your next day off.
