IMG_8003  Until very recently in Regina, interior stairs have all been built on site by the framing crew. A senior framer would take on the task, between reading the blueprints and actually doing a site measure of the space allocated to the stairway, they calculate the proper rise and run. Material would then be ordered and delivered to site, templated and cut, then they are screwed, glued, shimmed and nailed. It’s not a small task and can take the better part of a day.

Top Quality Stairs

I have seen more than one set of stairs that had to be removed due to human error.  Marty Moe, a local Regina framer, learned that almost all framers in Alberta use manufactured stairs. He saw that there was a definite need of this type of product in Regina and opened Ascent Stairworks. After securing warehouse space and making large investment into the required equipment and training, he was ready for business. Marty still goes past the blueprint and does an actual site measure for every project. The measurements are punched into an automated machine and the stringers are routered exactly.

Ascent also have exclusive rights to Ply-Lam in Saskatchewan, 1″1/2 laminated plywood that all of his stairs are built out of so that they are perfectly true. It’s really apples to apples for price compared to site framing, there is a good amount of time saved, a much better built product, and the human error element is eliminated.

Alair Homes Regina has been using Ascent Stairworks in every new home to insure top quality and fitment.
