Pairing Spray Foam Insulation With Triple Pane Window for Maximum Savings

Every body in today’s “day and age” is looking for ways to fight the costs of daily living. Utility bills come in every month and we are told how much we owe for this service with out any room for debate. So how can we cut back on these costs? When building a new home, we have a great number of different products to help us battle heat loss. Great developments in the areas of insulation and windows have dramatically improved to help us retain the money we spend on heating cost. When thinking about upgrading your home to spray foam insulation, I would highly suggest pairing that with a triple pane window. It seems wasteful to me to spend all of that money upgrading the heat loss through your walls while watching it pour through the glass of your windows. These two products together will provide quite a noticeable difference, but there are costs associated to them. If you plan on living in your new or renovated home for many years in the future, then these upgrades can be useful. Upgraded products like these are an investment that takes time to pay back the cost at installation. More common to heat loss is air leakage. Up to %35 of heat loss in homes can be associated to leakage.

Bad weather stripping, unsealed attic accesses, poor installation of windows, or improper sealing around exterior penetrations such as electrical outlets are the most common wastes of energy in your home. These are the areas to start with. When renovating, use cans of spray foam to seal all of these areas. Pull off the finishing trim around your windows and I bet you’ll find large hollow voids, which play a huge roll in this leakage. A properly built home with attention to these simple details will help to keep your bills to a minimum. Upgrading is always beneficial; just make sure to take care of the basics first.
