Well another year has passed and spring is just around the corner. Are you thinking that this might be the year to take on that home renovation project? 2016 showed the highest number of home renovation projects in Alberta’s history. Many people are realizing the value in their homes and the ability to change their lifestyles with some in-home upgrades. So is this the year that you finally give yourself that new kitchen?

As we move through January and into spring, we often see a large amount of inquiries following the spring home show. People begin thinking about design ideas and discussing when would be then best time to start their project. What we see year after year, is that this timeline always takes much longer than you anticipate. Before you know it the kids are getting out of school, you’re planning the summer camping trips, and you just don’t have time to finalize your renovation plans. This then rolls over to a project that begins in late summer, and the stress and pressure is now put on making sure the project finishes before the snow starts falling.

It sounds crazy but how many times have you said “the fence should last another winter”,“the roof should hold up a little longer,” “the shower doesn’t leak that bad,” or “it will have to wait till next year.”

This is why we are asking WHAT IS YOUR RENOVATION RESOLUTION!!

Every resolution needs an action plan. You can’t commit to yourself to get a gym membership in April. Why are we making the same exception for taking better care of our homes? We have found that projects that are fully planned, well before they start, are way less stressful. If you could take your time to understand all of the options that are available to you then don’t you think you would be happier with the final product? If you had more time to shop for products and look for discounts, then do you think you would be more satisfied with your budget?

We always encourage the people we work with not to rush into a home renovation. Plan well ahead, get everything lined up, and be stress free. Go on your holidays knowing all of the decisions have been made and that your contractor can work quickly through this well thought out process. Start planning now to enjoy a better lifestyle in your home this year.
