Lifelong residents of Peterborough and newcomers can discover new and exciting things to do this holiday season. A variety of organizations and businesses have planned events for the community to enjoy in and around the city.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

Arbor Theater celebrates the 20th anniversary of Ray Henderson, director, with its presentation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. The cast consists of over thirty performers of all ages who have practiced and perfected this presentation for months. Tickets range in price from $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $8 for children 12 and younger. You have two chances to enjoy this performance: December 10th and December 12 at 7 PM.

Potluck with Santa

Bring a main dish and enjoy dinner with Santa and Mrs. Clause! The Buckhorn Community Center offers a fun filled evening for the entire family on December 11 at 6 PM. Enjoy the outdoor light show, a Christmas story read by Mrs. Clause, dinner, and decorating dessert. All children under 10 years of age will receive a special gift from Santa. The cost is $10 per family of five for members, and $20 for per family of five for non-members.

KAGS Presents A Christmas Art Show and Sale

On display from December 2nd to 20th, you will find a variety of Christmas art created by local artists at the Kawartha Artist Gallery and Studios. Members display their art to be viewed and also purchased. You might find the perfect, one of a kind gift for someone you love! The gallery is open from 1 to 4 Wednesday through Sunday and 1 to 7 on Thursdays. Admission is free.

The Snow Queen

On December 8th at 7PM, and December 12th and 13th at 2PM, the Peterborough Theater Guild presents “The Snow Queen.” Adapted from Hans Christian Andersen’s story, this family friendly play takes you on a fun filled adventure with Gerda as she rescues her friend, Kay, from the wicked Snow Queen.

Christmas in the Village & Holiday House Tour

On December 17th, enjoy a tour through Downtown Lakefield to see houses decorated for the Christmas season. Along the tour you will decorate biscuits, ride on horses or in carts, listen to three entertaining stories on the Lantern Christmas Walks, and be surprised by various musical acts. Cassis Bistro offers a special dinner promotion and will be roasting chestnuts.

16th Annual in from the Cold Christmas Concert

All proceeds from this event go to the YES Shelter for Youth and Families. Available on December 11th at 8PM and December 12th at 10PM, The Heart of a Peterborough Christmas includes both Celtic and contemporary carols in this seasonal performance. You will enjoy the musical talents of Carried Away, The Convivio Chours, Curtis Driedger, Michael Ketemer, and Tanah Haney. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children.

Peterborough Singers “Handel’s Messiah”

On December 14th at 7:30PM, listen in amazement as the choir of 100 Petersborough singers joins their voice to the notes from a Casavant pipe organ in a Christmas tradition. Also, several guest soloists and musicians will make appearances throughout the night. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for adults 30 and below, and $10 for students.
