Home building permits… Yes I said it! Just the thought of this can render someone in the know a little stir crazy! Even worse

The Permitting Process

There are a number of steps to this process, a lot of which are tailored to the specific area in which you’re planning to build. Most checklists and information needed can be found on the town or city’s planning website, where one is looking at making home (or building a home) be sure that all information needed is gathered and presented in a neat and orderly fashion, because at best this is a slow process, and one that will come to a grinding halt sometimes without your knowledge, if the town or city is missing any information that they require!

Be sure to do your homework and follow all steps in the process in order to get your project started in a timely fashion. Be patient and polite with all of your dealings with them, because lets face it you don’t really have a second choice in getting building permits in the particular area you’re looking to do a build! Lastly try and stick with a reputable home builder that has experience building in the area you’re looking at, as they most likely have an established working relationship and know the processes.
