photo1The 36th Victoria Marathon held over the thanksgiving weekend was a fun-filled atmosphere in the spirit of healthy community, an event that Alair was very happy to be participating in. We were excited to learn that the marathon route through Oak Bay took runners past two of our project sites, a perfect place to cheer on the runners along with thousands of Victoria residents who came out to see the action. The event attracts elite distance runners from around the world being on the Boston Marathon qualifying event circuit.

Chris and Scarlet Bowness from Alair Homes Victoria ran the 8k race in the morning and then headed out to Beach Drive, the picturesque waterfront scenic route from downtown Victoria to the Uplands in Oak Bay, to see the runners at the 28k mark where our Alair Homes project sign stood proudly at one of our feature neighborhood project sites. Runners went on to pass another Alair project site on Monterey Ave at the 33k mark.

The marathon event is particularly touching for the Bowness family, as this was the first marathon that our late father ran in 1995, he went on to run 5 marathons and was an inspiration for us all to enjoy the sport of running for recreation, health, social and community. Remembering his legacy on thanksgiving day brought the feeling that he is with us in the spirit of athletics and our family business.

We congratulate all of the nearly 10,000 runners and thank all the spectators and volunteers who made the 36th Victoria marathon another successful event that always spreads positive energy around the town to all residents and businesses.
