Winnipeg is an incredibly beautiful city offering so many things to do. Visitors and even local residents never risk becoming bored or feeling their options for fun, entertainment and adventure have run out. Below are some of the more unique adventures and sights to see, things unique to Winnipeg:

Enjoy Winter For All It Is Worth

Winter can grow old after awhile. But in Winnipeg, winter is a time to celebrate adventuresome activities other seasons do not provide. At Arctic Glacier Winter Park, there are over 1.2 kilometers of skating trails, a toboggan run, an interactive ice castle to explore and a snowboard park. At the rink, a lighted canopy provides gorgeous night skating while music makes gliding even more enjoyable. Of course, if contact sports are your thing, a game of hockey can be picked up in the Olympic-sized rink.

Eat Raw:Almond While It Lasts

For only three weeks each year, a chef and designer come together to open a pop-up restaurant on three feet of frozen river water at The Forks National Historic Site. Called RAW:almond, this experience is uniquely Winnipeg. Dine in comfort and ice-borne luxury as part of this exclusive experience.

Climb an Ice Tower

For the Everest climber in you, venture out to the French Quarter in winter for a vertical hike up North America’s original freestanding ice climbing tower. This beast of a man-made ice stalagmite is produced by the Club d’escalade Saint-Boniface and only lasts as long as winter does.

Take a Hike with a Yogi

A truly interesting and healthy activity for Yoga lovers or those new to the practice, Yoga Hikes get you out of the gym and into nature around Winnipeg. These year-round hikes are available on different trails and throughout different parts of the city. Each one hour hike covers 3 kilometers of trail while scenic stops provide a venue for a quick pose or two. Perfect for all levels of Yoga experience and no mat is required. As you hike along and pose, the instructor also provides interesting facts about the scenic surroundings. This is three experiences in one!

Go On Safari

Winnipeg is a great place to escape for a prairie safari! FortWhyte Alive Bison Safari features comfortable vans with big windows through which you can view bison and learn about the incredible beast’s place in regional history. A guide takes you out into the prairie and narrates, pointing out interesting features about the bison’s environment, the youngest herd members and the life of the bison, both today and in years gone by.

Get Lost in the Cornfields

A great autumn experience, A Maze in Corn is in Adolphus, just outside of the city. Open from August to November, you can enjoy the best of this season with a petting zoo, hayrides, a giant bale pyramid and, of course, the corn maze, itself. Zip line tours are also onsite and you can check out the pumpkin patch and pick your own from an immense selection of freshly plucked pumpkins.
