The trend of the “smart home” will likely be here for quite some time. Homes that fit this qualification feature devices and appliances that are controlled through a mobile device. This allows the homeowner to have access to these systems both inside and outside of the home.
Vancouver homeowners are adding smart features to their homes more often these days. Upgrades include lighting, entertainment, security systems and home climate control. The trend has also become so popular that about 45 percent of home renovation projects involve at least one of these technologically advanced upgrades.
Security systems are at the top of the list when it comes to smart upgrades, accounting for 36 percent of the overall upgrade market. Entertainment systems are in second place at 26 percent. Climate control upgrades make up 20 percent of home renovations, and about 18 percent of homeowners who want upgrades choose advanced features for their lighting systems.
Overall, people are much happier with their homes after these renovations. Homeowners appreciate the fact that technology is assisting them in keeping their homes safer and more comfortable.
