Since the success of your project relies heavily on strong management, we are extremely selective and hire only the best project managers. Our project managers receive extensive and ongoing training on a weekly and monthly basis. The success of our business is built on the strength of our project managers and we are proud of the highly skilled team we have assembled at Alair Homes Toronto.
Cost per square foot is a very poor way to gauge the cost of completing your custom home because it is only relevant if you are comparing the exact same home plan and fitted with the exact same fixtures. Alair Homes Toronto will not quote on a per square foot basis because we understand that if you are going to achieve total satisfaction from building your own custom home, you deserve to understand the true cost of your project that matches your goals and specifications. This requires a thorough budgeting process with a knowledgeable construction professional with past experience in your type of project. This process does not take long and is the surest way to give you the confidence you need to understand what the total cost will be before the project starts.
We have developed a hybrid system known as Client Control™ that is the best of both worlds! We establish fixed prices from our trade partners and suppliers that create cost certainty plus you receive 100% transparency and control via an overall cost plus model. Please watch our video above explaining Client Control™ and also download our report outlining the benefits of this revolutionary method.
Each of our projects is as unique and diverse as our clients, which is exciting for us and important to our clients. However, if we have a project under construction, and we have the permission of the client we would love to show you a project in action! This is a great way to assess a contractor as you get to see things from the inside out. For Alair Homes Toronto, this is also an opportunity to show what makes our approach so unique and what makes Alair such a different kind of contractor.
We live in the beaches-area of Toronto and after meeting with a good number of contractors, we settled, comfortably, with Alair Homes. The relationship between the client and contractor is an important piece to help deal with any bumps along the renovation road. Luckily we didn’t have any major issues and if anything, Alair Homes suggested slight alterations (to our architects plans) along the way to better suit our needs. We dealt primarily with John and Greg and both were quite easy to speak with at all hours of the day. I would start many days communicating (via text and phone calls) with Greg as early as 6am to ensure all short term and long term decisions were agreed upon. As the entire project is itemized prior to starting, it allowed my wife and I to see, dollar for dollar, where our money was being spent. It also allowed me the freedom to pick and choose the work that I wanted to do in order to save some cash. We had purchased the hardwood and exterior siding (to collect credit card points), and Alair Homes was completely okay with our plan. Greg even spent a day with me to teach me how to lay down hardwood flooring. He even leant me the floor nailer for as long as I needed it.
Overall, Alair Homes was professional to the max! We will hire them in a heartbeat for any future work. Since we lived in our house during our renovation, they were extremely supportive by ensuring the doors to our two kids rooms were sealed, nails and screws picked up around the house, and were always respectful of our neighbours and their property.
Our renovation by Alair Homes Toronto, exceeded our expectations. Our 1980’s home has now been brought up-to-date, and we are loving our home again. Robert May and his project manager, Pablo, listened to what we wanted in the renovation, gave us helpful suggestions, and made sure that we were satisfied with the work as we went along. We never felt pressured into doing more than we wanted or could afford. All the trades people were very experienced, professional and cleaned up after themselves, at the end of each day. The longest part of this process was waiting for the permit to come through, which was a bit frustrating. Once we got the approvals, the work began. A project plan was drawn up, followed, and it kept everyone on track. The trades were all dedicated to the project. The project manager is key to the project, and ours was top-notch, in coordinating all the work with the trades.
Everyone is surprised when we say we had a great reno experience. Pablo was great from the start discussing in detail our budget and what was realistic. Our project manager Matt worked hard at every point to ensure we were getting what we wanted in a timely fashion. We were presented with a few options when problems with HVAC came up which allowed us to keep bulkheads to a minimum in our contemporary home. Communication was always great as well with Matt connecting with us on a daily basis if needed, either by email, phone or text. The guys were also fun with our two boys; letting our older son ride the backhoe with the excavator for his birthday!
Honestly from start to finish these guys were great and made the reno process pretty smooth.
