I would like to discuss the importance of making a scope of work. I have been building for 40 years now and have been head to head with lots of contractors pricing work. I have lost a lot of work to guys that didn’t price appropriately, after they started the job and told the clients that “the drawings did not say that” or “the sub-trade did not understand it to be like that”, or another classic is “we did not price it with that in mind”. The business I am in is full of clients with these kinds of stories and this is another reason why I joined Alair Homes.

With our software and our model, we complete and create a “Scope of Work” for each trade and we sit down with our clients prior to starting the project and verify that all the items they want are included in writing. To have all of the details in writing is the important thing. Many clients have a conversation with Contractors and do not take the time to write out exactly what the expectation is, and feel that they have explained to the contractor, only to be let down when it comes time to do the job, to find the Contractor has not included what they requested.

This does not happen to me anymore with Alair Homes. We get all of the details in writing, and create a contract with the sub contractors to ensure piece of mind, and that we are all on the same page.
