Finding go-to areas in Regina where you can explore, meander and have a good time is must. For newer communities like Harbour Landing, Greens on Gardiner, The Creeks, Fairways West and Edgewater, to name a few, have several options for walking around and doing something active. I built my own home in Harbour Landing and you would be surprised at the number of parks that in the area, and better yet, surprised at the number of people out playing at the Dinosaur park, playing basketball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, or skating at the rink in the winter. It reminds me of days when I was a kid.

When I was a kid, more people spent their time outside socializing. It seems so simple – build neighborhoods that encourage people to go outside, and sure enough, they are nudged outside and away from their TV’s to enjoy the parks and socialize within the community.

Another great option is Wascana Park. Walking around the lake is a good hour excursion depending on pace. The park has its place in history in Regina and taking that walk offers great views of the Legislative and other government buildings, the lake, and its surrounding green scenery. Wascana Park almost feels like our green space carved out of the busy city surrounding it. Usually, especially during the hot summers on weekends, you will find food carts, so the opportunity to treat yourself is always there. This park, like many, will have ample people walking their dogs too. Just watch out, the Canadian Geese are brave, and do not take kind to a dog running at them!

Wascana park also spills off into downtown where there are many food options. Leopold’s, Victoria’s Tavern, Crave, Fireside Bistro and Tangerine are all great options. So get outside in your community. And if need be, head to Wascana Park and walk downtown after for some appetizers and drinks.
