Poplar Ridge is one of the highest rated public schools in Red Deer. The faculty here is committed to bringing out the best in every child and provides a quality education from kindergarten through grade 6. Poplar Ridge has developed a unique relationship with the community and uses this to the advantage of the students to provide some fantastic extracurricular activities. The school rated 7.2 out of 10 in 2014 and 7.0 out of 10 in the prior two years. Their ranking is above average at 207 out of 813 schools in the 2013 and 2014 school year.
Koinonia Christian School
Koinonia Christian School provides educational opportunities for families who prefer a private school setting. The school has set a mission to develop excellence in faith, moral character and academics for grades preschool through twelfth. Koinonia Christian school boasts a low student to teacher ratio and smaller than average admission numbers, currently at approximately 230 students. This provides for a more intimate educational experience and possibilities for a closer relationship between faculty and parents. In 2014, Koinonia Christian School rated 6.2 out of 10 and ranked 388 out of 813. The school is newer, so no previous years’ data is available.
Ecole Camille J Lerouge School
Ecole Camille J Lerouge School is a separate school in Red Deer and part of the Red Deer Catholic Regional Division No. 39 school district. The school provides education from preschool to grade 9 and is publicly funded. Students here are called to grow spiritually, physically, emotionally and intellectually and enjoy classroom experiences, prayer and other religious teachings. The school’s ratings remain about average at 5.0 in the 2014 school year and have fallen slightly from the previous year’s rating of 6.5. Ecole Camille J Lerouge School ranked 598 out of 813 in the 2013 and 2014 school year and 234 out of 543 schools average over the past five years.
River Glen
River Glen is another competent candidate for many families considering their children’s public education. The school provides classes for students in grades K-12. This is the only public elementary school within the city limits. River Glen ranked slightly below average in the 2013 and 2014 school year at 655 out of 813 schools. In the previous five years, their average ranking was not available. The 2014 academic performance ratings were slightly below average at 4.3, but stronger ratings were seen in 2012 when the school measured in at 6.4.
