Our perfect day in the beautiful and historic Huntsville would look something like this…

Morning

We would start the morning off, waking up to a lovely sunny winter’s day, get dressed in some warm cozy clothes and head out for a breakfast or brunch depending on how late you want to sleep in. If you want a delicious yet smaller breakfast, we would suggest a pop into “7 Main Cafe”. Savor the famous Muskoka Roastery Coffee in your favourite flavours, enjoy the taste and smell of fresh baked goods, and don’t miss their often talked about waffles. They are to die for! If you would prefer a more sit down brunch, the “Main St. Local” is another fantastic downtown option. They have a full breakfast menu in a central location in their newly renovated restaurant. Once your belly is full, it’s on to enjoy all that Huntsville has to offer.

Afternoon

If you want to get outdoors and take in the beauty that is Muskoka, we highly recommend taking a trip just down the road to Arrowhead Provincial Park where you can go cross-country skiing and snowshoeing as well as take a spin around the world famous Ice Skating Trail. If you haven’t experienced that Skate Trail yet you need to, it is such a fun and unique experience skating through the forest. For a little more thrill and speed, buy a pass for the Hidden Valley ski hill and spend the day on the slopes. Or, if you’d rather some retail therapy, take a meander through the shops of downtown Huntsville. When the weather is frightful and you’d rather tuck in for the afternoon, grab a fresh bucket of popcorn and take in a film at the Huntsville Capitol Movie Theater. It really is a fun little step back into the simpler times visiting a sweet little local movie theater for an afternoon of family fun.

Evening

After a fun-filled and busy day around Huntsville, we bet your tummy starts rumbling and asking for more delicious food. This can only mean one thing – it’s time for dinner in downtown Huntsville. “The Artisan House”, “Boston Pizza” or “The Mill On Main” are all great options where you can relax and enjoy their new addition of a pizza oven. After dinner, walk over to the ever loved “Nutty Chocolatier” for a sweet treat or your favourite flavour ice cream cone. This charming old-time shop is open late on Friday’s even during the winter. Then after a long but surely wonderful day, it’s time to head home, relax, unwind and settle in for the evening.

There’s lots to love about Huntsville, but home is truly the best place to be in this beautiful part of the country.
