What gives you the most inspiration when designing or remodeling your home? For me it’s always been my collection and subscriptions of magazines. My husband will always say you have way too many, and with that I disagree. They inspire and give ideas to promote a beautiful home. Some people enjoy going on house tours and take from that new ideas while others filter through the internet from HOUZZ to designer web pages etc.

Even though you have been inspired and have found great ideas, be sure it makes sense for you and your family. Do you like to entertain, how many people live in your home, cooking – appliance requirements etc. Start a scrap book with your ideas and pictures.

Developing a Realistic Budget

After this step it’s also very important to consider a realistic budget. When you work with Alair Homes Collingwood we help you with that budget. By monitoring our software package from the beginning of your selections you stay on top of your budget. Perhaps you can save on certain items to increase on others. It all depends on your priorities and best to stay within your limits.

Something new to consider for your kitchen, if your cupboards are in great shape but you are just tired of the look, try a faux finish with milk or chalk paints. The results are amazing and you have chosen your own look. Updating a tired old kitchen is one of the wisest methods, and a tried and true one, of increasing the value of your home. When planning a kitchen remodel, and making design decisions and selections for plumbing fixtures, appliances, cabinets and countertop materials, you should determine whether you are prioritizing your own design aesthetic or the return on your investment.
