In October, Alair Homes in Collingwood, once again made a sponsorship donation to the Home Horizon Program in support of transitional housing for women and children within our community. This is the 4th year in a row that we have made this donation in support of this very worthy cause.

Our task was easy – Alair Homes funds one of 4 buses that carries people through 4 different venues or attractions in Collingwood where multiple food and drink vendors are set up to wow us with their culinary and fermenting skills.

The recognition we get while taking part in this event is incredible. We are announced as a major sponsor several times, but would do it regardless. The feeling that we get from paying it forward is beyond words. We’re extremely proud to be associated with this very important cause and will continue to support as long as we can. The following is a testament to why we give:

Dear Laurie & Kevin

I wanted to personally thank you for your sponsorship of The Spirit of Collingwood Tour this past Saturday. Thanks to your generosity we raised over $29,600 net in support of Home Horizon!! This is amazing!! These funds go directly to supporting our transitional housing and counselling for women, children and youth in our community. Home Horizon’s program is designed to provide this vulnerable population with immediate access to housing that is safe and affordable in addition to the necessary supports that focus on health, well-being, life skills, engagement in education and employment, and social inclusion.

As mentioned on Saturday, this past year we opened the Home Horizon Barbara Weider House for homeless youth in South Georgian Bay. The Barbara Weider House provides a safe home and a welcoming communal environment – something many of these youth have never had. All the youth have access to counseling and social and life skills programs to help them successfully rebuild their lives and transition to independent living and adulthood as opposed to continuing down a path of homelessness that may lead to larger problems.

On behalf of the Spirit Tour committee, the Home Horizon staff and Board, and most importantly our clients, an enormous thank you! With your help we are driving change in our community and giving this vulnerable population hope, opportunity and a chance to succeed.

Thank you again for all your ongoing support of Home Horizon,

Joan Schatz, Board Member
