Watch what you wish for or so they say…

I never wanted to have this happen to me along with all the mess etc. Now that it has, I will find the positive path and start my home renovations.

An Unfortunate Flood

flooding

So after an unfortunate flood in our basement (malfunction with the pump), I’m now faced with my own renovation project. The first positive action was when the restoration company, a local Collingwood business promptly came on board shortly after our tragic discovery. This gave me an immediate sense of support and led me to believe that this will get better. After pictures and analyzing the damage, the decision was made to take out all carpet, underpad, trim and partial drywall. So that being said, it’s now time to plan new paint, trim and flooring materials. There is something to be said for “clean slate & starting fresh” scenario. I can now transform our lower level living space into my own. Part of this will include our Alair Homes office space, which will be organized, and
inspiring.

Choosing a basic paint colour should be easy right? Well lighting, raised basement, furniture colour all come into play for this decision. I’m confident that the new colour will be inviting, crisp, clean and be complemented by new white trim with more depth. After all this is an expression of oneself and should be fun!

We have also discovered that a project like this tends to snowball. So we have now installed a beautiful gas fireplace which will make the room very cozy in the winter months.

It’s now getting exciting to see the finished look, so stay tuned for next months blog and photos.
