Office Manager, Amanda Newman, Launches Awareness Campaign to Support Injured and Orphaned Animals with a Chance for Donors to Win One of Two Experiences Courtesy of ‘Unofficial Wine Tours’

Sandy Pines Wild Life Centre, located in Napanee Ontario, is a non-profit organization that rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife. Founded by Sue Meech 25 years ago, they offer educational programs for schools or groups and have trained staff to rehabilitate animals back into the wild. One particular member of #TeamAlair, Amanda Newman from Alair Homes Belleville, is especially connected to the work that they do, and is proud to launch the #WinesForSandyPines campaign!

“I have personally carried in turtles, squirrels and birds to Sandy Pines and I’ve always been fascinated with what they do,” says Amanda Newman, Alair Homes Belleville, Office Manager. “I just never realized how expensive it is for them to operate.”

The whole team at Alair Homes Belleville cares about the environment and wanted to contribute to Sandy Pines and the important compassionate care they provide sick and emaciated animals back to freedom.

“Since Covid, the annual fundraising events the organization has long depended on have had to cancel or restructure leaving them in great need,” says Amanda. “They weren’t able to hire interns this year so some of their employees are even taking orphaned newborns home at night if they require feedings.”

Alair Homes believes Earth is Home, and Home is worth protecting. Our group of Partners located throughout various different landscapes and destinations do their very best to not encroach on wildlife or disrupt natural habitats in the areas that they build.

When asked Amanda’s thoughts towards the breadth of companies within the construction industry whose work can tend to negatively impact the landscape and surrounding nature, she says, “It’s very important that we make a conscious effort to protect and repair whatever we can. If we can make change, be better and assist those doing good in the community to protect animals, than we absolutely should!”

The online awareness campaign raising funds is on now until May 10 with a goal to reach $2,500. All donors who contribute via the link found on Facebook here will be entered to win one of two experiences from “Unofficial Wine Tours.” The tours include space for them and three friends to enjoy food, tastings of wine and beer and transportation at dates held this summer following all local pandemic safety guidelines.

“It’s been inspiring to receive the overflow of support from participating wineries/breweries in Price Edward County who believe in the meaningful work of Sandy Pines,” says Amanda. “Please donate – and from all of us – thank you for helping us, help thousands of injured and orphaned wild animals every year.”

It’s #TeamAlair with hearts like Amanda’s and our collective effort to try to work with our design and trades partners to salvage what can be protected, protect what can be safeguarded, and safeguard what we can of our communities, that living better starts here.
