Family Friendly – Climbing in Value

One of the most sought-after neighborhoods in all of Newmarket, Stonehaven offers tons of upside and a great lifestyle to the families who choose to make it home. Take a leisurely drive through Stonehaven and it’s clear that pride of ownership is an embraced philosophy. You’ll spot manicured lawns and landscaped entries that show off these large yards.

Typical Stonehaven residence

Stonehaven was born in the early 1990’s. The homes are spacious (most are 3000 plus square feet) and brick is prevalent. Growing families like the availability of three-car garages and close proximity to amenities and good schools. It’s also a quick jaunt down Leslie to get to the 404. Proof of the community’s popularity is the construction of a new plaza at the corner of Bayview and Stonehaven, anchored by Shoppers Drug Mart and Tim Hortons.

“…Where your kids can walk down the street and ring the doorbell.”
Don’t just take our word for it. We asked Dan, a Stonehaven owner and family man what sold him on Stonehaven.

Top 5 Reasons Dan picked Stonehaven:

1. Family friendly and safe

2. Great schools that are easy to walk to

3. Large, private, pool-sized lots (backing onto greenspace if you’re lucky!)

4. Access to amenities – groceries, gym, LCBO, theatre all nearby 5. Long term value – a great investment.

It’s clear that others see that long term value trend, too. Stonehaven average sale prices have been climbing. While much of this value escalation can be attributed to a healthy real estate market in general, some credit also goes to those owners that have been diligently renovating. Locals joke that a SOLD sign is a precursor to a renovation bin.

Stonehaven in a Nutshell…

Dan says “If you want to be close to amenities, with good schools close by, on a large lot, in a large home, where your kids friends will walk down the street and ring the doorbell then Stonehaven is for you. Personally I think Stonehaven still is in a “value” stage as many homes still have yet to be turned over/renovated.”

Overall, Stonehaven offers the opportunity for owners to add value through home renovations and enjoy all the lifestyle perks that come with a newly renovated space and a wonderful community.
