For many reasons for myself and my family, we chose to live in the Westshore of Greater Victoria. It’s a fast growing community with a great vibe and the right facilities and schools for my young family to thrive.

In the short time that we have lived on the Westshore, we’ve witnessed the boom here. Young families are finding themselves able to enter the housing market. Victoria businesses are setting up shop, seizing the opportunity to expand their business in this fast growing area. And of course, the number of custom homes being built in the area has been outstanding.

Growing up on the Westshore my children will have access to good schools, new recreational facilities for when they begin to play on local sports teams, and the neighbourhood has many other families with young children for them to have play dates and to just be kids playing on our quiet street. There’s a real community feel here that can sometimes be non-existent in communities close to the city’s downtown core.

Shopping in this area was once restricted to only big box stores, but the number of local businesses expanding their stores in the Westshore is on a constant rise. The face of this community has been evolving — for the better. Residents here have the option to dine at local restaurants, or shop at smaller boutique stores as well as frequent the many large chain restaurants and shops that have made their home here as well.

Only a 35-minute drive from the heart of the downtown Victoria core, the West shore has plenty to offer. Still in what seems like it’s infancy of growth, this community will continue to fit our needs and more. For all of these reasons, this is the best neighbourhood for my family.
