Richmond Animal Hospital is not just a building. It’s a healing house for our four-legged and feathered friends. We want the best health care for ourselves, so why not for our pets too! Right? So it is about time that this wonderful hospital is given an update and improved ability to look after even more pets at one time. Dr. Michael Schaufele and Kirsten Schaufele, the owners of the hospital approached us to work with them to renovate this 60-year-old building, and demolition started just about immediately.

Every demolition is different. We come across the weirdest things ever and sometimes, we will discover some really interesting findings. This time we uncovered somethings that were pretty amazing. In one of the walls that we demolished, we found stashes of old newspapers dating back to 1958 stuffed into the wall. Talk about exciting! This proves that the building can be way older than it actually looks. It’s so uncanny that I have to mention this. Notice that the headline on this newspaper is so paralleled to what the hospital is going through. It is so apt that it should be found right here because given the age of the building, I am sure it has been through some rough times and still survived to see this day!

Healing The Hospital That Heals Our Pets

This fun discovery got everyone going. Our carpenters braved the cold wintry winds to do their work and even the co-owner, Kristen got her hands dirty with painting the drywall! This is the best part of any project. Having such enthusiastic clients really makes all the difference. Somehow, being able to contribute to the whole process gives clients a sense of involvement and achievement. At Alair Homes, we take any input from our clients seriously. After all, they are the ones who have the initial vision of how the renovations should turn out and we are here to help make that vision become a reality. At the end of the day, they come out as satisfied clients because they know what they need the most in a home or in this case a hospital and we deliver it to them. That’s what we’re about, right? We help our clients achieve their objectives, ensuring that they are happy with our work and our service.richmond-animal-hospital-alair-sink

With their help, in no time at all, the rewiring was done, drywall were put up and painted, a brand new mop sink was installed, new kennels all ready for their occupants and the ramp ready for testing and these are just part of the work that was done to the hospital. Finally, it’s time to test out the ramp! And who but the best to do it but Jaeger! This old fella gave us the thumbs up, or paws up in this case! richmond-animal-hospital-alair-dog

All the staff is excited about the new changes that are going on in this commercial renovation. We are almost at the half way point now, just finishing two exam rooms and the pharmacy. We are doing the work over 4 stages while the hospital stays open and operational. Ahead of us is the operating room and treatment room, complete with custom made stainless operating tables. Fun Fun Fun!
