It may be smaller than Vancouver, but when you are in the area, be sure to take time to see everything that North Vancouver has to offer. Located just across the harbor from Vancouver, there is plenty to see and enjoy in North Vancouver, including:

Parks

MacKay Creek Greenbelt has 2,800 acres of trees with a salmon-bearing creek running through it. It also features walking and hiking trails, as well as a dog park.

The Ravine Greenway System provides links to several parks in the city, as well as the TransCanada Trail. It also aids in the protection of fish-bearing streams and creeks.

Right along the harbor is Waterfront Park, which has trails, a playground, and picnic facilities.

Sports

For those who like to stay active or just enjoy watching sports, there are many places in North Vancouver to do that. Fen Burdett Stadium features an all weather field that can accommodate a variety of sports. The Confederation Artificial Turf is available for both football and soccer. People who would rather play sports instead of watch them can do that at some other parks in North Vancouver, including the city’s tennis centre with its nine indoor courts.

Several parks have other sports facilities, including Cloverly Park (tennis courts), Eastview Park (disk golf), Tempe Heights Parks (tennis and basketball courts), and the Shipyards (volleyball courts).

Entertainment

Enjoy local plays and performances at two venues in North Vancouver. One is the Centennial Theatre. Opened in 1967, it hosts a variety of concerts, film festivals, comedy shows, and national touring productions. For a smaller, more intimate venue, check out the Presentation House Theatre with programs for everyone from children to senior citizens.

Annual Events

Slide in the City is a family event with the main attraction a 1,000 foot water slide that takes place in August.

Shipyards Night Market runs from May through September and offers farmers and artisans markets, food, and entertainment.

Celebrate the season with the Christmas Festival in December.
