The biggest action sports festival is coming to Canada this summer, and it’s going to be a blast! The event aims to bring together the best BMX, skateboard, inline skate, MTB and wakeboard athletes in the world to one venue. The FISE is one of the biggest events on the international extreme sports scene, and the FISE World Series Montpellier hosts one the biggest gatherings of extreme sports athletes in the world.

The even will be hosted in September, from the sixteenth  to the eighteenth in Hawrelak Park. The competition will be open to professional as well as amateur riders. Four disciplines are included in the event; skateboarding, BMX freestyle (part of the UCI BMX freestyle Park World Cup), the BMX flat and the MTB Mountain Bike Slopestyle.

The event will be hosted in a safe and family friendly fashion with a beer garden and vendors for various snacks and drinks. Viewing areas and large screens will be available so the audience doesn’t miss out on any of the action. Entry will be free of cost. You can find out more at the FISE Facebook event page or learn more about the series at their official website.

If you’re feeling up to it, you can also compete at the festival! Minimum age of competition is seven, and there is no qualification or minimum ability required to participate. However, we ask that you bring your own skateboard and other sporting equipment, and a measure of confidence in your ability so you don’t lose your nerve!

Since there is no public parking facility at the park, car owners will have to park their vehicles in adjacent neighborhoods. Obey the laws regarding parking to prevent their cars being towed. To avoid any unnecessary hassle that would get in the way of your enjoying the event, it would be a better choice to come on foot, by cycle or through any mass transit means. Park and ride shuttle services are also available for fixed time periods from Davies City Lot, Calder City Lots and Lewis Farms.

Competitors are allowed to bring their bikes on FISE shuttles. On regular bus routes, bikes are be placed on racks. There will also be bike racks onsite, although their safety cannot be guaranteed, so use the racks at your own risk.

How to have a Blast at the Festival

There are a number of ways for you to enjoy the festival. You can walk or bike to the site along with other extreme sports enthusiasts. Smoking and drinking is allowed in designated areas. You can cheer on your favorite athletes while they put on a spectacular show. Outside beverages are not allowed, nor will they be needed. Weapons, glass bottles, chair, drones and pets are also not allowed at the event site.

Getting to the venue on time can help you avoid standing at the back of the crowd. The park opens at 9 am on Friday, and 8 am on Saturday and Sunday. Competition hours are from ten thirty to one thirty pm on Friday, from nine thirty am to ten thirty pm on Saturday and from ten am to eight pm on Sunday.

The action at the festival is spread out over three days non stop, and there will be plenty to enjoy on each of those days. Even if you get tired of the main events, there are many other things to do at the site, including airbag landing, visiting the iPlay game theatre to take on virtual challengers, going for a walk on water inside a human hamster ball, and many other fun activities.
