Most people view the kitchen as being the heart of the home. It’s the place families gather after a busy day of school or work. For this reason, the kitchen is one of the best areas of your home to renovate, and will often give you the highest average return on investment.

Many homeowners start renovating by updating and changing the layout of their kitchen to better suit their individual needs and mesh with current styles. Let’s take a look at the most common areas for kitchen upgrades.

The cabinetry and countertops are two major areas of improvement that will drastically change the look and feel of your kitchen. However, renovating your kitchen doesn’t always mean you need to spend a lot of money. Although many homeowners choose to replace the cabinetry, another great option is refinishing the existing cabinets. This option is often more cost-effective and it can also look amazing.

Another feature that adds value to your kitchen is a new countertop. Simply upgrading your countertops from laminate to granite or quartz is a great option and can add style and individuality to your kitchen.

Always remember when considering the look, layout and style of your kitchen that it’s important to get professional advice for your specific project. There are many amazing ideas that you can find online, which is very important for your planning process. However, it’s also important to seek professional advice to ensure the kitchen has great flow and functionality.

We recently completed a kitchen renovation that is very representative of many kitchen renovations today.

The growing family required more usable space in and around the kitchen area, and also wanted to update the style of the space. There was space near the kitchen we were able to utilize by relocating a fireplace and reconfiguring the layout. We were able to increase the island seating, incorporate a built-in double wall oven, and also added additional cabinetry for storage. In addition, we replaced the flooring to give this kitchen an updated and fresh look that ultimately increased the value of the home and made the space more functional and family friendly.

Upgrading and updating your kitchen can be a smart investment if you’re looking to increase the value of your home.
